The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 sets
appropriations to revitalize the American economy and provides capital funding
for the next generation of medical technology. As such, medical providers will
be paid incentives for upgrading to an Electronic Health Record program before
2015. Beginning in 2015, doctors will be penalized in the form of reduced
Medicare bonuses. According to the incentive payment schedule below, medical
providers are urged to fully implement EHR technology as soon as possible.
